Iranian woman disqualified from Iranian city councilor seat for being too beautiful

  • We Don’t Want Catwalk Models Here Says Council Leader
  • Nina Siahkali Moradi Finished 14th In The Qazvin City Council Elections
  • But The 27-Year-Old Was Told A Week Later All Votes For Her Were Nullified

An Iranian woman has been told she cannot have a seat on her city’s council because she is too beautiful for the role.
Nina Siahkali Moradi finished 14th out of 163 candidates in the Qazvin city council elections, polling an impressive 10,000 votes.
But even though the result should have gained her a seat on the council, the 27-year-old candidate was disqualified with the council leader saying: ‘We don’t want catwalk models here.’
According to the Independent, Ms Moradi had gained enough votes to become an ‘alternative member of the council’ – making her a first reserve.
When one councillor gave up his seat, Ms Moradi should have been able to step in, but she was banned from doing so.
She found out a week after the election on June 14 that any votes cast for her had been nullified.
According to the International Campaign for human Rights in Iran, her disqualification was as a result of her ‘non-observance of Islamic codes’.
It has been suggested that her campaign posters prompted some of the council’s conservative elders to complain.Opponents to her candidacy said that she had only been elected because because she is young and attractive. But on the posters she is wearing the required hijab and has only her face showing.
She also passed a series of rigourous checks carried out prior to polling day carried out by a range of authorities including the police, intelligence ministry and the judiciary.
The graduate student had campaigned under the slogan ‘Young Ideas for a Young Future’.

A Letter To Olamide... From A Well Meaning Fan

Hi Olamide,
I am a fan of yours and I have followed your growth from the days with ID Cabasa and the Coded Tunes crew, to your days under Toni Payne‘s management. Parting ways with her was quite risky but I felt it was a move worth making as you needed a fully dedicated management to grow your career. That move paid off and you’re now better off for it.
Pitching your tent with 1805 Entertainment, your immense talent and the void left by Dagrin‘s demise meant only one thing – A top spot for you! I  am glad you fit in perfectly. A bolder move to start YBNL Nation and you going ahead to drop your second album on the YBNL Nation/1805 Entertainment imprint was another risky move that still paid off. At that point, I knew the ‘god of music’ was behind you.
Though it wasn’t so surprising to see the street embrace the album cos of it quality street wise content, the rate at which the ‘butties’ accepted you too was alarming. People preached the YBNL gospel and gladly talked about how good the album was. Even my cool friend  Fola Alade became an advocate of ‘Razz being the new Cool’, no thanks to you. But while we where enjoying Jale, Street Love, Jesu O kola, Stupid Love, First of All, Ilefo Illuminati amongst other beautiful songs, dear Olamide, you unconsciously killed the album!
Yes, you unfortunately killed it by releasing too many materials not so long after the album dropped and you shifted our attention off the album. To make matters worse, some of these songs were not half as good as the songs on the album and they also were not well promoted, Confession, Tonto Dike, Baddest Nigga That ever liveth, e.t.c. Needless to say that some were also really good, cos some of us still have Turn Up and Durosoke topping our playlists.
Baddo, have you heard of the point of equilibrium? That’s the point when the law of diminishing return sets in. It happens to everything and everyone. In simple terms, it’s the point where you get to the peak, have nothing extra to offer and the drop starts. To some, the drop might not be deep while to some, they would never rise to that point again. Unfortunately, this happens a lot in the music industry. While we agree that you are HOT at this moment and the inspiration is much, brother, please do not wear yourself out. Ma le ara e ni ere.
Truth is when you saturate the market with too many materials, we get tired easily, we don’t pay full attention to them and the songs end up not getting as much love as they should. Keep recording, keep saving them in the cloud and don’t push too many songs within a short period. Let the fans yearn for more, let us savour the goodness of some of what you already have.
On a final note, I love the way your personality is gradually evolving ‘cos building a brand of yourself should be beyond your music. I foresee a near future where corporate brands that want to connect with the streets would come to you, simply because you are the link between the streets and the corporate world. A celebrated grass to grace story. The true voice of the streets.

Mo Cheddah Talks About Her Nude Photo Scandal In Interesting Interview

Beautiful Rapper/Singer, Mo’Cheddah in an interview with PUNCHNG’s Nonye spoke about her life, career, scandals among other things. She also spoke about the scandal that rocked social media when she mistakenly sent a bare photo of herself to a fellow male musician.

You have been off the scene for a while…
Yes. It is true. But I went back into the studios some months ago and I started recording. I have shot a couple of videos and I am still shooting. Very soon, everything will be unveiled.
You went back to school when your career was blooming. Why?
I was already in school. I started music when I was in my JSS 2. I have been doing music for a long time. My mum was scared. She wanted me to go to school. She told me that if I must do music, I must go to school. So I couldn’t just compromise that request. I was in my first year when I did my hit track. But it never crossed my mind not to go to school. It wasn’t an option.
Was it easy coping with fame and your studies?
It wasn’t easy. I was young. I wasn’t old and grey and tired. School wasn’t going to kill me. God was just faithful. There were times I would be so tired from the shows and recording sessions. I would have an exam and I would also need to travel to perform somewhere. I would be an hour late for my exams; I would read on the plane. In all this, I worked through them. Even my classmates asked me how I was able to do this. I loved it all. I was grateful for it and I was happy because I had work at that young age.
When you went back to school, some other female artistes came into the scene and somehow, everybody forgot about you. So would you think it was a wise decision continuing with your studies at the time you did?
You cannot live your life for people. We are all living our lives. I am where I want to be. I am just having fun and I am not paying attention to what is going on around me. It is all about me. I am happy.
You were still coping with fame when you got the SoulMate brand ambassadorship. How were you able to manage?
I still do not know. I am where I am today. It is just His grace and He has been faithful. He has never left me hanging.
The way you are mentioning God, one may think you have become an evangelist…
But we are all evangelists.
As an ‘evangelist’ how come you posted your bikini picture on your Instagram page? A lot of people even felt you uploaded that picture as publicity stunt…
I am not going to say anything about that picture.
Showbiz comes with a lot of challenges, has it been easy for you?
Earlier on, it was tough when you open the papers and magazines and people are talking about you. It got to me. But with time, I had to develop a thick skin. With age comes confidence and confidence comes with wisdom. It now becomes what you think of yourself and what your family thinks about you. I got a tough skin over the years. People would always talk about you. It doesn’t happen to you alone. It comes with the territory. There are some people who they don’t even get to hear about. For them to talk about you and even ‘cook’ up stories, it then means you are special. I see a silver lining when I hear stuff about me. I always move on.
Was it your ‘thick skin’ that made you to overcome the scandal of your alleged nude picture that went viral?
I don’t know. I don’t remember anything about that. I am not going to defend myself. I don’t always have to do that. People will always talk about you. They will always pick on meaningless things. As a human being, you have to move on.
But really, were those pictures yours?
I will not answer that question.
Did that episode, whether true or false, have any effect on you and your career?
At that point, I had grown a thick skin. I wasn’t depressed. It is just like you waking up and somebody is telling you that you did what you know that you did. Such thing can’t get to you. You don’t have to defend yourself; you just have to move on. Nothing has ever come in between my music and I. Nothing. My school didn’t even affect my music. I am where I am because it is where God wants me to be and it is where I chose to be. Life is all about knowing when to slow down and knowing when to move on. I started music so early and there was a time I was just going on shows, shows and shows. God blessed me so much and I achieved so much at an early age. I had to go into other things. I am an entrepreneur. I am a young lady growing into a young woman. I want to experience the world. That I have not released an album in a couple of years does not mean I am off the scene or that I am no longer relevant. I am an ambassador for brands and I get paid for that. Because I am not on TV doesn’t mean I have been buried.
Why did you choose rap music?
I don’t always plan what I want to do. I always do what I want. When rap came along, it just came. I wasn’t a rapper. I didn’t plan it. I figured I could rap and I decided to go along with it. I wanted to mess with people’s heads. Rapping is just speaking your mind and making it sound as hard as possible. Mo is the singer and Mochedda is my alter ego. Music can’t be put in a box. There are different expressions. I am just an artiste. I can choose to express myself in any way.
Do we see you singing and not rapping soon?
It depends on what we agree to do at the end of the day. I have so many songs now. This new album is about the new me. It is about me as a lady. I like the album already. My fan base has grown. They are no longer 16 years old. They grew just the way I have grown.
Is it because you feel you’ve grown up that you left your label?
I will only say that your secondary school will not be mad at you because you grew and got into the university. Your university will not be mad that you finished and got a job. There is time for everything. I didn’t have any misunderstanding with them. I don’t owe them any album. We are very cool. They are my brothers. I am now on my own. I have my own record label, Cheddah Music. I will soon release my album. You can’t rush music.
Are you sure you can compete with the girls in the industry now?
I am so happy for them. I do music for me. I do music for people to hear me and appreciate the music. No matter how hungry you are, I will not give you raw food. I will boil it and make sure it is ready. I am not in a race.
Who are you currently dating?
I have a boyfriend. I will not like to say who I am dating, but really, I am in a relationship.
What kind of relationship do you have with Eldee?
I will not say anything.

Calvin Harris tops Forbes' list of the world's highest paid DJs 2013

Calvin Harris spent the past year spinning his way to becoming the highest-paid DJ in the world, according to Forbes’ latest rankings. The other spots in the top 12 belong to the likes of Deamau5, Skrillex, David Guetta and — yes — “Jersey Shore” alum Pauly D.
Anyone who thought DJing wasn’t a lucrative art form should reconsider, as Harris tops the list with a $46 million salary — placing his earnings ahead of those of Jay Z, Katy Perry and Beyonce (data for the latter artists is from Forbes’ 2012 list; they may have grossed more this year). The 29-year-old spinmeister and producer has released three of his own albums, one of which debuted during the qualifying period for this Forbes roundup, and has recently worked with Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Florence Welch. Harris didn’t earn a spot on 2012′s highest-paid list, but he now dethrones previous champ Tiesto, whose $22 million intake last year rose to $32 million this year.
Harris also notched eight Top 10 hits in the U.K. off the album, a record. Tracks like “I Need Your Love” (featuring Ellie Goulding), “We Found Love” (with Rihanna) and “Let’s Go” (featuring Ne-Yo) have become mainstays on dancefloors around the world.
Forbes factors in business dealings and collaborative work for these DJs, many of whom serve as producers and songwriters for other artists. Afrojack, for example, has spearheaded singles for Pitbull and will.i.am, while Diplo has worked with M.I.A., Chris Brown and Beyonce.
The top 12 actually contains 13 names, as Diplo and Pauly D tied for the last-place spot at $13 million each.Head to Forbes for the full rankings and more info about these EDM maestros

Terry G: You May Call Me Lucifer!!

Gabriel Oche-Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G ranks among the most celebrated entertainers in the country. However, he is controversial, which makes people to see him in different light.
The talented musician cum producer in this interview talks about his career, family and why he prefers to be called Lucifer. Excerpts:
You had your first child sometime ago. How does it feel to be a father?
It’s the happiest thing that has ever happened to me. There is always a feeling one has never felt before, especially when it is the first time. It’s full of new experiences, and the truth is that it has brought good luck to my life.
Has it changed anything about you?
Yes, definitely. It has changed my lifestyle; I’m now a homely man, always at home playing with my kid. It has made me to be calm.
Tell us about his mother, Mimi?
She is lovely, understanding and very intelligent. It is always difficult to find the right partner, but I’m lucky to have found her.
When you first came to the industry you referred to yourself as Mr. Bling Bling, later it was Ginger, Akpako Master, and now you said people should call you Lucifer (devil)?
A lot of people got it wrong. Nevertheless, I’m in support of controversy. I knew it was going to cause controversies. What I actually meant was ‘look, see far’; meaning I’m seeing ahead. I told my crew members that it was going to generate controversies and I’m enjoying it.
You need to make certain clarifications about your personality. Perhaps, due to your energetic stagecraft and lyrics, some people perceive you to be an addicted Indian hemp smoker?
Well, these things are attached to secular music. Everybody doesn’t do it but I think 99 percent of us are seen doing it. The fact about life is that everything has control. There is a reason for everything. If you ask me, it doesn’t have to do with the fact that people say I take Indian hemp. It has to do with the talent that I have. If I take Indian hemp and I’m not creative or naturally intellectual, it won’t work. Besides, if you look at it, I’m not the only one.
What’s the meaning of Akpako?
Akpako means scope. Interviewing me now means you’re nacking your akpako. Your akpako is journalism. As a lawyer, you nack your akpako when you’re in court. My own akpako (scope) is music. So, if I’m referring to a girl that ‘tile make I nack you akpako…’ that means I’m making sexual conversation with her.
You also did a song, Crazycally Fit with Tonto Dikeh. How did that happen?
You know that Tonto Dikeh is also controversial. When she dropped her first two singles, everybody was criticizing her, but I like the fact that she has a market that other female artistes in Nigeria don’t have. She has this crazy female swag that will make her relevant for a long time. I was the one that called her on phone after making the beat. She came and we killed it. I’m happy that the response on the song is good. Music is not all about talent, its about the producer’s ability to discover the potentials of the artiste and give the necessary support.
What was your experience with her in the studio?
It was cool. She listens to instructions and always ready to work, and that is very vital. The problem we have with some artistes in the studio is that they don’t listen.
I guess she is one of the most difficult artistes you have worked with?
Not really. The song we did was good.
She didn’t sing off-key like she did in her debut singles?
No. Every good sound comes from the producer because he has the right to monitor the production and voicing. So, if it is not good to go, he won’t let it out. So, you can’t blame the artiste, you blame the foundation of the song. Everybody can sing; they just need a good producer to coordinate them. It is a step-by-step stuff.
Some artistes have in the past accused you of stealing their beats or songs. Can you clear the air?
People often make this mistake; you don’t say someone stole your beat when it is not your intellectual property. A production belongs to the producer, and he has the right to give his beat to anybody. If I give you a free beat from my heart and you stab me in the back, I don’t have to be violent because there are ways to kill your market. That is why I deliberately do some stuff. I’m a human being.
Where do you place yourself in the industry?
I’m at the top of my game and I wish to be better everyday.

Kcee: I Can’t Leave Home Without My Earring ( studs).!!

How many Jesus piece chains do you have?
I have just one and it is very precious to me. I got it in Spain when I went there to shoot the video for my new song, Okoso. I can trade it for money anytime. It is like saving my money. I got it but it was quite expensive. I will not say the price so that I won’t be attacked. I have been robbed several times. I’ll not want to expose myself any more.
What is that fashion item you cannot leave home without?
I can’t leave home without my earring (studs) for both ears. I don’t know why, but that is something I cannot leave home without. I don’t joke with it. I wouldn’t want to mention how much it costs. I don’t like mentioning figures but they are pretty expensive. Why I love them so much I don’t know. Even if you come to my house in the morning, I would put my studs on first before I come downstairs to see you. I have over thirty of them.
 What influences your style?
The truth is, I am a very stylish person and I have always had it in my blood. It is something I love. It reflects in my life, video, apartment and even my car. Everything about me is fashion, so anytime I do anything, I don’t get prepared; I do it because it is a part of me.
What is the craziest thing a lady has done to you?
A few days back in Abuja, I saw a girl and she opened her hand, I saw my name tattooed on it. I don’t know her, I saw her during a show some days back. She was like this is KCee. She said that she did it and had been looking for a way to show it to me. I was surprised. I went mad, I was excited, I felt loved. I took pictures with her. Outside the country, I have been taken care of by female fans. Some of them are surprised it is me. They tell me they have a car, home, they want to take care of me. It feels good when people show you love because of what you do.

Asuu Ex Chairman: We Shall Wait Till FG Has Money!!

THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will sustain its ongoing strike until the Federal Government gets the money to meet its demands, an ex-officio member of the union, Prof. Aloysius Okolie, has said.
Okolie, the immediate past chairman of the union at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka, Enugu State Friday that the government should not allow a total collapse of tertiary education in the country.
But former Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has called on the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) and the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) to intervene in the seven-week old ASUU strike.
The District Superintendent, West and Central Africa, Apostolic Faith Church, Rev. Bayo Adeniran, also called on the Government and ASUU to expedite action on the settlement of the rift between them, urging them to remember that keeping the students out of school would result in breeding criminals that would further endanger our society.
Meanwhile, the meeting between the Federal Government and ASUU in Abuja was postponed to Monday.
Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, who chairs the universities needs assessment committee, told newsmen that both parties had rescheduled their negotiations for Aug. 19.
Suswam, who is the negotiator for the Federal Government, said that tremendous progress had been made in the negotiations.
Oloyede, who expressed worry about the lingering strike, said the two bodies should not fold their arms and allow the situation to continue.
Okolie argued that no country had attained enviable height economically and technologically without adequate funds for the education sector.
He said the sector remained the engine room of national development. “The National Assembly and some executive members are paid jumbo salaries but when it comes to education funding the government has no money. How will the country be able to achieve its vision 20:2020 of being among the 20 leading economies if the education sector is not well-funded,’’ he asked.
The former chairman solicited the understanding of the students and their parents, saying the union’s demand was to ensure quality teaching and learning in the universities.
“It is unreliable that in some universities student receive lectures under the trees and in stadium. Books, laboratory equipment in our libraries and laboratories are outdated while some politicians and government officials are wasting money in building houses in every state capital and buying fleets of exotic cars. The demands will enable the universities to produce quality graduates employable in any part of the world,’’ he said.
Okolie urged the government to see reason in fulfilling the promise it entered with ASUU in 2009 to enable the students and lecturers to go back to class.
He said the union was not making a fresh demand but for the government to implement the agreement it signed with the union in 2009.
Oloyede said: “These two academies can no longer afford to watch this development continue since their major obligation is to promote academic activities and the education sector in general. I feel the Nigerian Academy of Letters and the Nigerian Academy of Science have a lot to do to ensure that the problem is solved once and for all. The face-off between the Federal Government and ASUU over the strike is becoming a perennial one.”
The immediate past Chairman, Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, said everything should be done to resolve the impasse.
According to Oloyede, the only way out of the impasse is to go scientific since every other process has failed to work.
“When I say scientific, I mean it is time to sit down as a body of intellectuals and get the issues well thought out in order to arrive at a workable solution.”
Oloyede, who was recently inducted into the Nigerian Academy of Letters, said the two intellectual bodies owed the country a duty to rise up to the challenge.
Speaking during the 2013 Camp Meeting Concert Programme which took place at Apostolic Faith Church Campground, Faith City, Ogun State, Adeniran said: “The best way to solve this problem is for the stakeholders to move into effective, collective bargaining that would bring peace and harmony to our institutions.
“I am pleading with our government and ASUU to come together and resolve this prolonged problem that would not only speak good of our educational system but also of the entire nation. The more we move together and encourage a society that thrives on law and order, the better for the nation. ”

DBanj: My Message To Upcoming Artistes

Nigerian hip-hop star, Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj on Saturday in Abuja urged upcoming artistes to promote Nigeria’s image through their music.
Speaking, he described music as a veritable tool for the propagation of the country’s rich tourism, economic and entertainment potentialities.

“But people need to understand what we have; from textiles like `Adire’ to the entertainment industry, from Nollywood to other areas, we’ll get to see a lot.

New iPhone Announcement on Sept. 10? The Picture Below Is Just A Guess

Speculation about the next iPhone -- presumably called the iPhone 5S -- have been mounting over the last few months, and now, a launch date may be at hand.
According to technology website All Things D, Apple will hold a special event September 10 to announce the next version of the iphone and more details about iOS 7, the next version of the iPhone and iPad operating system.
When reached by ABC News, Apple declined to comment on the report. However, the date would fall into Apple's usual iPhone launch schedule -- it was close to a year ago on Sept. 12, 2012 that the company released the iPhone 5. Apple has typically announced its new hardware products on a Tuesday or Wednesday and then begun delivery and selling them in stores a week and a half after on a Friday.
Forget the Next iPhone: Here's What the iOS Software Will Look Like
The next iPhone is expected to have a similar design to the current iPhone 5, but add a fingerprint reader for added security, faster internal organs and an improved camera. Apple has also been rumored to be working on a more affordable version of the iPhone, named the iPhone 5C. The "C" is said to stand for "colors" as reports indicate that the plastic version of the phone will come in a selection of colors.
While Apple has not commented on the forthcoming iPhones, it has shown off the software that will run on them. In June, Apple previewed its iOS 7 software, which has a radically different design and some new features, including new Siri voices and a control center with easy access to settings menus.
For those who already own an iPhone and are not planning to upgrade to the forthcoming iPhone model, iOS 7 will be available for as a free software update for iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, iPad mini and iPod touch (fifth generation).
Apple has been facing mounting pressure from investors and consumers to release products at a faster rate. During Apple's third-quarter earnings call, company CEO Tim Cook said that the company was working on many new "amazing products" that would be introduced "in the fall and across 2014."
